Insurance Journal's Academy of Insurance

It All Started Because I Needed a Job

Look, I don't know why you got into insurance; I doubt many are here because an insurance career was your dream. Most, like me, fell into insurance because we needed a JOB. But the funny thing is, once we got into this profession (and it is a profession), we discovered that insurance is actually quite fascinating and complex. And the longer you are in this industry, the more you understand how necessary insurance is to a free market economy.

Don't You Want to Know Everything?

Now that you are committed to insurance as a career, don't you want to know everything about it? And not only insurance, don't you want to understand how insurance fits into the overall concept of "risk management?" Insurance Journal's Academy of Insurance begins its nine-part series, "Beyond Basic Training" in the next few days.

This series is valuable to anyone relatively new to the industry who desires to advance in their knowledge quicker than simply letting time be his or her teacher.

An Insurance Agent Stranded on a Desert Island?

During this class I will not detail my fascinating survival and escape after being marooned on a desert island - mainly because it never happened. But we will fascinatingly detail risk, risk management, the risk management process, legal liability, and other topics (which I think makes a better story anyway).

You Could Skip Three Years of "Accidental" Learning

I promise not to bore you with facts. I will, however, thrill you with theories and concepts important to you as an insurance professional. You will magically skip over three years of "accidental" learning and advance more quickly in your career. FIREWORKS were planned as a celebratory kick off to this series, but we couldn't get the proper permits; but you couldn't have seen them anyway because the class is presented live at your computer. The PARADE planned to close the series was also cancelled because of this, plus the elephants would not cooperate.

You'll Get a Copy of the New Book, "Insurance is Not Risk Management"

Before I forget, because we all like free stuff everyone who registers (and pays) for this class gets a FREE electronic copy (in .pdf format) of the new book, "Insurance is Not Risk Management: The Insurance Professional's Guide to Risk Management and Insurance." This is the book upon which this class is based - just in case you wondered.

Can You Join Us?

All the trouble begins on Thursday, September 22, at 1:30 Eastern / 10:30 Pacific (I chose this time so that no one would have to skip LUNCH to be in the class).

Each webinar is only an hour long, so you can get back to whatever you would be doing otherwise. And since it's a nine week series, it ends on November 17 so that you can have all this knowledge to impress your family over Thanksgiving dinner.

Space is limited. Click Here to Register

I look forward to seeing you (well, in my mind) on September 22. Hurry and register as space is somewhat limited (the elephants that refused to participate in the parade take up a lot of room).
